Investing in Education, Meeting the Students It Supports

The morning of Friday, September 25, was a great reminder of why investing in education continues to be such an important part of what we do at BBIA.

I had the opportunity to attend the 2nd Annual Gulf Coast State College Foundation Donor & Scholar Celebration alongside BBIA President Cosheene Timson of Fischer Homes, Vice President Brian Knox of Coastal Classic Homes, and Board Member Rob Griffith of Hutt Insurance Agency.

The event brought scholarship donors and students together, giving us the opportunity to meet some of the students whose education is being supported through scholarships like the Bay Building Industries Association Endowed Scholarship.

For me, that's what makes an event like this meaningful. We talk a lot through Education & Workforce Development about preparing for the future, creating opportunities for students and strengthening the connection between education and our industry. But getting to sit in a room with students and see firsthand what these opportunities mean makes it much more personal.

BBIA has made a long-term commitment to supporting education in our community, and our endowed scholarship at Gulf Coast State College is one more way our association and our members are investing in that future.

Thank you to the Gulf Coast State College Foundation for bringing donors and scholars together and for giving us the opportunity to be part of such a special morning.
